Job Description

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the supervision of the Director, this position works with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to facilitate the development and implementation of student life programming, service learning and community-based education and training programs both online and instructor-led within Student Affairs and Community Engagement. Creates content, coordinates events, and monitors feedback.

Assists in the development of educational content and products, such as workshops, symposiums, conferences, on-line e-learning, webinars, manuals/monographs, blended learning, and other learning methods.
Presents information and/or facilitates instructor-led sessions on community engagement or other topics as assigned, both in classroom settings and in co-curricular settings.
Provides information to students, staff, faculty, and community partners seeking information about UTHSC Student Affairs programs and services connected to the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
Collaborates with the Director to oversee office operations that include community service and service-learning training database, marketing activities, accreditation compliance, and the development of educational/training activities.
Maintains the office social media presence and engagement, assists with planning content updates, generates session ideas and writing, reviews and edits office information and content for dissemination in collaboration with AFSA Marketing Coordinator and the Office of Marketing and Communication.
Schedules subject-matter experts/speakers for on-going clinical research sessions, workshops, and conferences. Ensures materials, supplies, and other resources are readily available.
Facilitates administrative aspects of community outreach programs.
Performs general office duties, participates in weekly group/individual staff meetings/activities, and prepares unit reports.
Performs other related duties as assigned.




EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years related work experience in student affairs, student services, or community outreach; OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience; OR a combination of related education, training, and/or experience that totals ten (10) years. (Experience in developing materials or interventions related to the social determinants of health preferred).

Ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral).
Ability to exhibit excellent interpersonal skills that establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships and a positive and respectful attitude with faculty, staff, students, health care professionals, and members of the general public.
Strong public speaking skills, event-planning skills, and creativity in developing resources.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work as team member and participate in office training and professional development.
Knowledge of cultural, social, or other diversity factors.
Demonstrated professional organizational and planning skills.
Ability to develop outreach and learning opportunities, as well as ability to work independently under general indirect supervision.

Ability to meet multiple deadlines, without exception.
Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite (specifically, Word, Works database, and Publisher). Experience with Windows Platforms.
Knowledge of distribution platforms supporting content delivery, web accessible and mobile applications, and LMS.
