ACCTG 208.03, Advanced Legal Environment of Business

Summer Quarter 2020, 07/6/2020-09/12/2020, Moraga campus: Every second Saturday (Last two Saturday classes are back-to-back, 9/5 & 9/12) 8:30 AM-12:30 PM and online every Monday 7:00-9:00 pm,

This course examines the legal implications of business transactions, particularly as they relate to accounting, auditing and financial reporting. In addition, students are required to apply the knowledge gained to evaluate the economic substance of client transactions, including purchase agreements, loans and promissory notes, sales contracts, leases and commitments. Oral and written communication skills and professional research skills are emphasized.

Minimum: MBA in accounting, CPA, active practitioner.

Preferred: J.D., L.L.M., or Ph.D. in accounting that meets the definition of scholarly academic per AACSB guidelines or Practice Academic.

Must have recent experience teaching governmental and not for profit accounting and submit student evaluations with application.
