Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Marketing, Communications, and Technology Support (MCATS) department oversees the marketing and communications strategies for University Human Resources for the purpose of providing exceptional human resources services to the NC State community. This unit is responsible for the development, design, review, and distribution of internal and external communications. MCATS team reviews and approves the most viable media outlets, oversees branding for all external communications, and prepares major publications such as the strategic plan and annual report. The technological support services for University Human Resources are also provided by this unit. Installation, maintenance, and assessment of technological needs for staff are conducted within MCATS.

Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of the Technology Communications Technician position is to provide technical support for hardware and software to University Human Resources staff across all campus locations. This position reports to the Marketing, Communications, and Tech Support Manager. The Technology Communications Technician performs first line IT support to University Human Resources staff including software updates and application troubleshooting. The position also provides web design and general communications support for the team.

Other Work/Responsibilities
This position provides onsite technical support to University Human Resources end users. It also provides assistance to the MCATS manager and other University Human Resources staff for web communications and website related updates and design. This position coordinates with the Office of Information Technology to roll out software updates and make changes to user end products as directed.

Minimum Experience/Education
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in the field of technology related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Departmental Required Skills
Experience working in an Active Directory Network environment is required.

Knowledge of principles and best practices for technology use. Knowledge of technology use, risk management, and security policies and regulations in a university setting.

Familiarity with software user license requirements and/or specifications.

Must be skilled at developing strong working relationships; communicating complex information to the public for a variety of audiences; analyzing and evaluating system or software issues.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Must be able to identify technical needs and enhancements, analyze and assess user needs.

Knowledge of Windows 10, Hardware and software setup Basic Windows 10 troubleshooting.

Network knowledge (IP management, MAC address lookup).

Understanding of basic web design practices and principles.

Ability to manage time effectively. Must be able to prioritize project urgency with customer and business operational need. Must be able to manage multiple assignments at once.

Develop written and visual methods of conveying outcomes and results.
