Job Description


The School of Health Professions is seeking an Academic Faculty Member who will be responsible for the OP Health Research Methods course, OP Research I, II, and III, and research project assignments for 24 OP students per year.  The candidate must also possess good interpersonal skills, maturity, the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks well, good judgment, and a professional demeanor and appearance.  This individual should also possess adequate computer and administrative skills to carry out the duties of the position. The core and specific administrative, instructional, research and service duties of the position are listed below.

Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as faculty coordinator for the research project assignments for 24 orthotic and prosthetic students per year.
  • Serve as a student advisor providing guidance and mentorship to students in all phases of training regarding their progress toward fulfillment of their research requirements.
  • Review, and in collaboration with mentors, approve 24 final master's thesis each year.
  • Coordinate the annual poster presentation and judging session for dissemination of students' research results.
  • Recommend to the Program Director appropriate policies and procedures pertaining to research requirements and curriculum.
  • Assist the Program Director in collecting, analyzing and maintaining appropriate data to evaluate program quality on an on-going basis.
  • Provides functional assistance and support to faculty and students in the BRAIN submission process.
Instructional Management
  • Serve as course director for the Health Research Methods course responsible for the review of objectives, development of new instructors, preparation and administration of exams, assignment of grades, and review of course evaluation data.
  • Serve as coordinator for the OP Research I, II, and III. Responsible for the review and update of learning objectives, small group workshops, preparation and critique of student research presentations, assignment of grades, and review of course evaluation data.
  • Assist students identify a research hypothesis and a primary research mentor with expertise in the field-of-study.
  • Assist students develop well-designed research proposals that are likely to lead to a product worthy of presentation or publication.
  • Review and approve all preliminary research proposals
  • Orient primary and secondary research mentors to their roles and responsibilities.
  • Oversee progress on Master's Paper Project requirements
  • Assist students in selection of appropriate methods for the statistical analysis of research data.
  • Assess the quality of the research projects.
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and maintenance of appropriate data to evaluate program quality on an on-going basis.
  • Assist faculty members develop research proposals to include consulting on study design, statistical methods, and data analysis.
  • Assist in developing and submitting proposals to fund research and training projects.
  • Assist the Program Director in analyzing program evaluation data and compiling regular evaluation reports.
  • Assist the Program Director with design of new projects that involve data collection.
  • Participate in College opportunities for faculty development.
  • Provide service to the College as requested; i.e., committee and task force assignments
Minimum Qualifications

Education Required:  Master's degree in a related field
Experience Required:  One year of relevant experience
