Job Purpose

The Manager, Business Operations (Division Administrator) serves as the administrative leader and senior management advisor to the Center Chief. Primary responsibilities of this position are to generate, manage, and interpret strategic information; provide financial management and accountability for all Center resources; and to provide administrative infrastructure for faculty, staff, and trainees.  Under the general direction of the Department Chair, Center Chief, and Department Administrator, the Division Administrator will plan, coordinate, and direct broad and complex financial and management functions. Supervises staff and may manage all personnel functions, including all Success Factors HR functions, for the organizational unit. These responsibilities cover each of the Center's primary missions of patient care, education, and research. The Division Administrator is responsible for all administrative operations of the Center including finance, research administration, and human resources. In addition, this leadership role helps to maintain BCM's values by creating a culture of professionalism; an effective learning environment for all; and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. 

Job Duties
  • Manages and oversees the daily operation of a department or unit, primarily in the areas of human resources, compliance and financial management.
  • Develops/assists with the preparation of the annual department or section budget.
  • Provides/assists with oversight and management of financial operations for a department or section, including budget monitoring, financial reporting, and reconciliations; serves as the department/section liaison with the BCM Finance department.
  • Reviews and approves all statements of accounts, payroll, human resources, and invoice actions.
  • Manages and supervises the human resources activities for unit/department, including hiring, terminations, salary, and disciplinary actions.
  • May oversee or handle grant management activities, including pre and post award activities such as application preparation, budget development, and adherence to budget.
  • May provide oversight or support for clinical operations or research administration.
  • Manages exempt and non-exempt employees, including defining job duties, setting performance development plans and goals, and conducting annual performance evaluations.
  • Formulates policies and guidelines for unit/department activities.
  • May assist with or manage special projects.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field. 
  • Experience Required: Four years of relevant experience. Degrees in lieu of experience will not be accepted.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
