Primary Function of Organizational Unit
University Theatre is NC State’s volunteer student theatre. As a non-majors program, we provide the opportunity for all students at NC State to participate in theatre. We produce 4-6 productions each academic year and a three show summer Theatrefest, and also instruct classes in theatre, including those in the theatre minor.

Essential Job Duties
University Theatre at NC State University is accepting applications for a part-time instructor in theatre. Part-time lecturers are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach theatre arts courses in (Theatre history, African American Drama, movement, acting and intro to theatre). The maximum teaching load is three course per semester. Expected load is one course per semester.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Teaching face-to-face courses in theatre history / African American Drama courses
Attending training sessions with Theatre Faculty
Participating in data collection and assessment of student learning
Adhering to all university deadlines
Submitting teaching materials as part of semester review.
Other Work/Responsibilities
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
A master’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.

Departmental Required Skills
Candidates must have expertise in teaching several of the following courses: African American Theatre, theatre history, movement, acting, intro to theatre.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Master’s degree (MA) or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Theatre.
