Position Summary
The School of Education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor in Middle Level Education. The College seeks scholars with expertise in teacher education,middle level and secondary education and science education. The applicant must also have expertise and interest in working with teacher education candidates, cooperating teachers, administrators, and other educators in teaching diverse populations in K-12 school contexts. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate education courses, in both face-to-face and online environments;
Observe and mentor candidates in educational settings;
Recruit and advise teacher education candidates;
Participate in graduate level research projects;
Conduct an active research/publication agenda;
Provide service to the university, community, and profession;
Perform other duties as required.

Demonstrated ability to use technology effectively in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Required Education and/or Experience
PhD or EdD or ABD in Middle Level Education, Science Education, or a related area, with an academic background in middle or secondary education and science education, middle level or secondary experience as a teacher of record in teaching science, teacher education teaching experience in science education, and documented record of scholarship with potential to develop a sustained record of scholarship.

Preferred Education and/or Experience
A history of developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate teacher education courses in science education and other important areas in education, such as introduction to education and classroom management courses. Experience working collaboratively with schools or community groups particularly in urban and ethnically diverse settings; Experience in developing/working with university and school partnerships. Experience with CAEP and SPA accreditation processes. Experience in and the ability to use technology effectively in teaching, observing interns, advising, and scholarship.
