POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of Dr. Randall Jackson, the position coordinates field and lab activities of the Jackson Lab, which studies grasslands and cropping systems, to assist faculty, scientist, postdoc, and graduate student research.
The program coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of the laboratory and mobile field equipment. In this role, they will maintain inventories and/or purchase equipment, chemical reagents, and other supplies. In addition, the program coordinator may assist in development of experimental demonstrations for instructional purposes. The program coordinator supervises and coordinates the work of undergraduate students, limited term employees, and academic staff. In addition, the program coordinator will frequently interact with other labs at UW (and other institutions) to coordinate fee-for-service analytical capabilities of the lab, coordinate and manage program activities with responsibility for costs, methods, and employees. Finally, the program coordinator will develop and ensure Standard Operating Procedures and protocols are maintained and applied. The specific duties related to this role are outlined below.

DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION:
M.S. required in Agronomy, Environmental Science, Ecology, Biogeochemistry or related field.

MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:
At least two years of experience working in or managing a field and laboratory research program in grassland and cropping system ecology and management. Experience with long-term cropping systems experiments including field sampling, sample processing and analysis, sample archiving, data entry and retrieval, and database management. Experience with field and lab equipment including supply requisition, maintenance and repair. Some budgetary experience a plus but not required.
