Job Summary
Our research team, led by Dr. Yelena Wu, is seeking an energetic individual to work with us as the primary interventionist for an extramurally-funded research study. This individual will be trained to deliver health behavior interventions for families with an elevated risk for skin cancer. The team is looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, can work effectively in a team setting, is self-directed, and has a flexible work schedule.

This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at HCI if they are healthy and without COVID-19 symptoms.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities as part of this position are to:

1) Meet with families (parent and child) via video call to deliver protocolized behavioral interventions targeting skin cancer prevention among children.
2) Complete research-related processes to ensure integrity of the overall research study
3) Have flexibility in scheduling to accommodate families’ needs, including evening and/or weekend times.
4) Meet with the study team on a weekly basis to receive feedback on completed intervention sessions

The position could also include opportunities to work on other research studies led by the team, assist with data cleaning and analysis, and assist with findings write-up for publications and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
There are two levels in the Health Educator position.


Health Educator I: Candidate must have a BS in health promotion or related field. Ability to demonstrate entry level competence in the 7 Areas of Responsibilities for Health Eduction or 10 Essential Functions of Public Health.


Health Educator II: Candidate must have a BS in health promotion or related field, and four or more years of health education experience. Must also possess and maintain certification as a CHES, MCHES, or CPH. Ability to demonstrate working-level professional knowledge in the 7 Areas of Responsibilities for Health Education or 10 Essential Functions of Public Health.


Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills required.


Training in a specific health area may be preferred.


This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field or equivalent, or demonstrated relevant experience. Prior experience delivering heath interventions, implementing patient-centered research, or a background in behavioral sciences preferred.
