Position Highlights:

  • The Health Information Management ("HIM") Coder reviews, analyzes and codes diagnoses and procedures information that uses ICD9-CM and/or ICD10 CM PCS, Current Procedural Terminology ("CPT"), or Evaluation and Management ("E&M") coding and/or Healthcare Common Procedure Coding ("HCPCs") coding and/or Diagnosis Related Group ("DRG coding").

The Ideal Candidate

  • The ideal candidate will possess a coding certification and at least one year of coding experience.
  • The candidate will have Ambulatory Payment Classifications ("APC") knowledge.
  • The candidate will have experience with coding Oncology related services.

 Responsibilities:

  • Reviews medical records for accurate documentation and translates this to ICD9, ICD10 and PCS and CPT 4
  • Reviews and accurately selects the correct principal diagnosis and procedure on all accounts that are coded
  • Reviews accounts to ensure all accounts are coded and available for billing within five working days following discharge.
  • Assist coding leads, supervisor and coding manager in identifying and analyzing problems or issues that prevent the accurate and timely coding of medical records as observed by manager

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Minimum of one (1) year health care coding experience with ICD-9-CM and /or ICD-10-CM, PCS, CPT and DRG classification systems. 
  • *****In lieu of experience, an Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management with ICD10 may be considered*****
  • Required Certifications: CPC, CPC-H, CCS, CCSP, ROCC, CIRCC, or any certification sponsored by the American Academy of Professional Coder (AAPC), RHIT or RHIA ***Other accredited coding certifications may be considered***
