Minimum Qualifications
The Clinical Coordinator must possess an Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology; Associate in Applied Science; Associate in Occupational Studies; Associate in Science or Associate in General Education.
2. Must be a certified surgical technologist (CST) by a national credentialing organization that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies. (NCCA).
3. The clinical coordinator/instructor must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five (5) years.

Essential Functions
The clinical coordinator/instructor of Surgical Technology is primarily responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction, and for providing those related services and support activities required for optimal student learning and effective educational programming. As a member of the Surgical Technology faculty, the clinical
coordinator/instructor is also accountable for assisting and supporting the program director and/or department dean, as needed, in meeting the instructional and curricular requirements of the program, department, and division. More specifically, and consistent with the employee’s current contract of appointment, the clinical coordinator/instructor is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

Job Duties
Teach all courses (9-15 contact hours) as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction;
2. Be fully prepared with instructional plans for each class session and in accord with the stated objectives of the course;
3. Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times, and comply with all other institutional rules and regulations pertinent to classroom instruction and general employment;
4. Identify at risk students and provide tutoring and program plans to assist with success. Provide guidance and academic support;
5. Participate in advising and registration activities each semester. Serve as educational advisor to assigned students as required and as otherwise requested or needed by individual students;
6. Become proficient in advising technologies including Colleague, Webadvisor, and Student Self Service.
7. Assist in the revision and development of course outlines, syllabi, curriculum plans, and other instructional documentation required to meet program objectives;
8. Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of competency-based education and utilize available educational resources for the evaluation, improvement of instruction and the development of teaching materials;
9. Participate in program, departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and other announced activities;
10. Maintain complete office and student records, as needed; process reports, forms, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner, checking for the accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data;
11. Maintain posted office and on-campus hours sufficient to fulfill all contracted duties and individual professional obligations, as well as to meet the needs of the program, department, division, and College;
12. Take advantage of in-service training and other opportunities for continued professional development, including attendance at off-campus activities, as feasible, and generally staying abreast of developments in the field of instruction;
13. Serve as liaison between the clinical faculty, the program director, and the affiliate agencies in regards to scheduling and coordinating of clinical rotations;
14. Provide for the orientation of clinical faculty and preceptors in the delivery of appropriate clinical instruction;
15. Participate in program, departmental, divisional, and instructional meetings and other announced activities;
16. Evaluate the clinical instructional staff and make recommendations toward the
improvement of clinical instruction;
17. Schedule appropriate clinical rotations to assure fair and equal scheduling of students for all clinical related activities;
18. Provide regular visitation to each affiliated institution where students receive clinical experience to assure adequacy of instruction and record keeping;
19. Secure new clinical sites and contractual agreements
20. Coordinate the clinical and didactic education for the Surgical Technologist program. Coordinate and revise the clinical education plan. Recommend changes to the Program Director.
21. Maintain proper communication and supportive relations at all times with all other units and branches of the division and the College; provide assistance to them in carrying out their respective functions;
22. Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the program director and/or department dean in meeting the needs of the program, department, division, and the College.
