Saint Mary's College seeks to hire an individual to conduct private vocal lessons with students in the undergraduate program beginning in Fall 2020.

Private Lesson Instructor: Vocal

The Performing Arts Department requires a part time faculty member with expertise in the Estill Voice Training pedagogy for individual voice lessons for students in the department.

The private lessons fall under the purview of PERFA 112-02 and -03 (Individual Music Instruction - Vocal). The private lessons instructors are not the instructors of record for this course, but serve as one of many individuals who teach private lessons on the different instruments based on the needs of the students enrolled in the course.


Ideal candidate must display current extensive and active professional experience in teaching private voice, utilizing the Estill Voice Training pedagogy.
  1. Master's Degree in Music (Performance, Education, etc.), or the equivalent
  2. Some level of Estill Voice Training certification and enthusiasm for this pedagogy.
  3. A commitment to encouraging development in a range of musical styles (in support our a non-genre biased approach programmatically).
  4. Minimum of four years of successful teaching at the college level, or equivalent professional experience.
  5. Professional music performance experience (itemized on CV, verifiable), preferably in at least two different musical styles.
  6. Ability to encourage, motivate, and inspire students while maintaining a high level of performance
  7. Enthusiasm for collaborative faculty teamwork
  8. Ability to maintain and recruit students.
  9. Ability to teach in an online modality.
