Position Announcement
Provide administrative support to the Computing & Design Department Chair, the Engineering Department Chair, associated faculty in both areas, and associated support staff. This position also supervises part-time clerical staff and coordinates part-time payroll and business transactions within the departments.

The Computing & Design department offers students a wide variety of courses and real-world applications in emerging technologies within some of the fastest growing careers in the nation. Information about the department can be found online at https://cd.dixie.edu/.

The Engineering department offers students an immersive experience with 14 lab courses, 4 Dixie Design Day projects, training in a variety of prototyping techniques, design & manufacturing, robotics, dynamics & control, thermofluid sciences, solid mechanics, and materials science. Responsibilities
Assist department chairs with administrative support duties, including but not limited to: completion of payroll transactions, tracking budgets and other financial data, arranging prospective faculty visits and part-time faculty interviews, placing maintenance requests, and taking minutes at departmental meetings.
Prepare purchase requisitions and/or use of purchasing card for department office supplies, equipment, etc. Reconcile purchases to department budgets using the University's operating system. Coordinate and track travel authorization paperwork and expenses within the departments.
Coordinate department reception areas by answering the telephone, taking messages, distributing mail, and assisting visitors to the department. Coordinate with other college administrative assistants and the Dean's administrative specialist to ensure smooth operation of college transactions, such as coordinating scheduling of cross-listed courses, etc.
Assist department faculty with office set up, scheduling of classrooms/conference rooms on Event Management Systems, ordering desk/exam copies from publishers, and scheduling/catering for department events.
Assist with department and college workshops and events, including but not limited to ACM Competition, commencement, college luncheons, graduate luncheons, etc.
Maintain course information, including faculty updates, enrollments, cancellations, etc. in the university's operating system (Banner).
Hire, train, and supervise part-time clerical staff within the department's reception areas; coordinate paperwork and timecard processing for other part-time student hires in the departments (teaching/research assistants, etc.).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED with some college coursework and/or a post-secondary certificate required; Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Two years' office experience required; experience working in higher education preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, faculty, students, and community members.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Good working knowledge of financial recordkeeping procedures.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task with faculty, staff, and students.
Knowledge of professional office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Good working knowledge of computer software such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Supplemental Information
CONTRACT: Full-time classified staff position (overtime-eligible). Annual salary of $30,000, with a desired start date of September 1, 2020. Excellent benefits package included (see https://humanresources.dixie.edu/employee-benefits/ under "Example of DSU Benefits" for more details).
