Position Summary
Rice University Cashier’s Office serves at the University’s central office for providing cashiering, student financial services, billing administration and centralized accounts receivable systems for the university and is seeking a business systems analyst to join our team.

The business systems analyst provides system research and troubleshooting, report development, and other technical/administrative support as required by the University Student Accounts and Cashier’s Office. This individual serves as the liaison between functional user and technical systems groups in the development or modification of information systems.

The ideal candidate will support the daily operation of the Ellucian Banner AR system and other Cashier’s Office information systems. S/he should possess an intermediate knowledge of SQL with abilities to write intermediate to advanced queries; perform complex data analyses of student billing and receivables data by developing queries and interpreting results; and provide excellent customer service to students, employees, departments and others.

Skills Required
- Knowledge of computer system capabilities, business processes and work flow
- Understanding of the software development life cycle.
- Experience with enterprise applications and understanding of database driven applications
- Experience with SQL scripting
- Skilled in conducting interviews
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by communicating effectively with individuals of varying systems expertise and business needs
- Listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to maintain good customer relations with clients and external vendors and partners; excellent customer service skills
- Must understand double entry accounting

Skills Preferred
- Knowledge of TouchNet,, HTML, Drupal, Tableau, and/or Evisions FormFusion
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- Must be detail oriented and extremely accurate
- Must be able to learn and use effectively complex database computer systems
- Ability to work effectively under stress and meet deadlines

Internal: Regular contact with University staff, faculty, and students

External: Regular contact with parents

Physical Demands
Requires working at a computer for extended periods of time (up to eight hours per day).

Working Conditions
Monday through Friday, normal 40 hour work week.

Essential Personnel
Position is not considered essential during a campus emergency.
