The academic partnerships team has an opening for a motivated individual to provide leadership for Sandia’s postdoc program office and new faculty loan program. This position provides the opportunity for you apply your understanding of Sandia’s research and national security mission to develop creative solutions to multidimensional challenges and take a pro-active leadership role. As the lead for the new Sandia Postdoc Program Office, you will formalize postdoc policy, processes, and guidance to ensure that both Sandia and its postdoctoral researchers, including the Truman and Hruby postdoctoral research fellows, obtain the highest level of benefit from the Postdoctoral Research Program. Postdoctoral researchers at Sandia contribute high value, leading edge research supporting national security. You will work hand-in-hand with the Sandia postdoctoral research community to enhance the opportunities for our postdoctoral researchers to achieve ambitious technical goals and make successful career transitions. You will help ensure postdoc job postings and positions provide optimal opportunities for mentored research training consistent with postdoctoral research program goals. In addition, you will develop and support a recruiting strategy to attract and retain diverse and highly qualified postdoctoral researchers. In this role, on any given day, you may be called on to: + Meet with postdocs and managers/mentors to facilitate development and accomplishment of goals. + Advise and support the Sandia Postdoctoral Development association. + Track postdoc career outcomes and cultivate a Sandia postdoc alumni network. + Identify, track, and communicate technical and workforce impacts resulting from the postdoctoral research program. As the lead for the new Sandia Faculty Loan Program for Joint Appointments, you will be responsible for developing and implementing Sandia policy for adjunct and joint faculty appointments. Adjunct and joint appointments help advance national security capabilities and facilitate workforce attraction, retention, and satisfaction. You will work with leadership and partners across Sandia to develop, implement, and communicate new policies and processes. You will work with Los Alamos National Laboratory program leads, and leadership at multiple universities to ensure consistent approaches and collaboratively solve issues. Additionally, you will engage with technical staff, their managers, and university faculty to ensure they understand roles and responsibilities and to implement individual agreements for each position. In this role, on any given day, you may be called on to: + Advise managers, staff, and faculty on the partnership mechanisms that best support advancing research and workforce goals. + Ensure adjunct and joint appointments are appropriately documented and approved. + Design and administer training to program participants. + Identify, track, and communicate technical and workforce impacts resulting from adjunct and joint appointments. Required:
+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 5 years of experience or Master’s degree in a relevant field plus 3 years of experience + Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Research and development
- Research assessment and management
- Systems analysis + Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Program development and management
- Policy and process development
- Educational outreach and engagement + Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
