Faculty Responsibilities:


The Integral Program is composed of Tutorials [Mathematics, Language, Music, and Laboratory] and Seminars.


The course load within Integral will include, for 2020-21, the year-long First-Year Seminar sequence (2.66 course credits) and the semester-long Music Tutorial (1.5 course credits), and the Integral/SOLA FYAC. Two courses in Collegiate Seminar round out the teaching responsibilities.


Faculty in Integral are expected to develop over time the ability to teach across the curriculum.


Service responsibilities: represent the Integral Program on the Collegiate Seminar Governing Board; formulate and supervise the Integral Program's student archonships, and advise first year students.


Tutors, as the Integral faculty are called, are expected to participate in the outside the classroom activities, including socials, lectures, and field trips

Saint Mary's faculty are expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda and demonstrate intellectual growth and significant achievement appropriate to their field. Faculty also contribute to the mission and serve the College and community in many ways, including academic advising, student and community outreach, participation in departmental and College-wide committees, and the development and assessment of the College's Core Curriculum. Faculty are also encouraged to teach in the College's Core Curriculum, January Term, and Collegiate Seminar programs.

Qualifications:


Candidates must have a Ph.D. by August 2020; strong background in the tutorial/seminar method of shared inquiry as developed in the Great Books movement; should be familiar with the content of the Music Tutorial and First-Year Seminar; familiarity with Attic Greek and Euclidean geometry is desirable in order to help students integrate their learning across courses.
