Job Summary
The Office of Information Technology at UT Arlington provides premier solutions and support to our Maverick Community. The Network Engineer II’s role will provide administrative and technical support of enterprise network with a focus on layer 2 and layer 3 switching and routing, including routing in the VMWare environment with a focus on NSX and routing in cloud environments such as AWS and Azure. This role will participate with the installation, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, communication links, and monitoring of various functional areas for SLA/billing/reporting metrics, including asset management, renewal of support, and refresh of equipment. Furthermore, this individual will be responsible for providing support to the Infrastructure and Operations teams and other departments throughout the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation, monitoring and support of a high availability enterprise level network and support of distribution infrastructure including Network Address Control. Support network equipment to ensure proper operation including upgrades, installations and troubleshooting through change management. Report, record, and work with departments to resolve network related issues and incidents through ServiceNow. Provide support in network projects and requirements. Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. Positions in this classification may perform all or some of the responsibilities above and all positions. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field. Three (3) years of recent full-time experience managing enterprise-class networks or seven (7) years of the equivalent experience. Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching. Working, practical experience with Cisco/Juniper network equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
CCNA wireless, routing and switching or JNCIS-WLAN certification. Advanced degree in information technology or related field. Certifications related to the duties and responsibilities specified (examples: CCNA Cloud, CCNA Data Center, CCNA Wireless or JNCIP-ENT, JNCIE-ENT, JNCIS-WLAN).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of datacenter and software-defined networking solutions. Knowledge of enterprise networking. Knowledge of tools to monitor and gather data for providing metrics related to network performance and efficiency. Ability to work within a hybrid development, engineering, and support team. Ability to collaborate with team members, staff, and customers. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form to a variety of constituents at varying levels of authority within the organization. Ability to understand higher education processes and convey value and needs in the language of the business. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to perform network maintenance and address potential issues in a self-motivated manner with keen attention to detail.
