We are searching for a Background Check Coordinator to join our OHR team. This is an exciting opportunity if you thrive in an interesting and challenging work environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the administrative process required for conducting background checks on University employees. You will liaise with the CMU colleges, and divisions, Office of Human Resources units, and vendors to ensure that the process is completed for applicable employees. You will assist with the processing of clearances that are required under PA Act 153 and University policy.

Core responsibilities include:

• Coordinating pre-employment checks, and regulatory clearances, as applicable
• Processing background checks according to university policies and procedures
• Coordinating pre-adverse and adverse action letters and serving on the adjudication committee
• Responding to inquiries for PA153 certifications from faculty, staff, and students
• Facilitating the timely registration and compliance review for new and existing Carnegie Mellon programs involving minors
• Acting as liaison to third party vendor/s
• Preparing data reports and metrics related to areas of responsibilities
• Coordinating PA Act 153 clearance processing
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Associate’s degree is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

A combination of 1-3 years of experience is required in the following areas:
Human resources experience
Experience working with sensitive and confidential data
Customer service experience

• Higher education experience is preferred
• Experience conducting pre-employment checks is also preferred
