DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Business and Administrative Services provides fiscal, administrative and

Human resource services to the Development and Alumni Relations Division (DEVAR). This position works closely with the Senior Financial Analyst to develop and monitor the DEVAR division budget ($31M in FY 2020-21) and smaller business units. This position also works closely with the Unit Business Managers to develop standardized methodologies for determining best human resources practices and maintaining internal processes. The division and assigned business units are fast-paced, constantly evolving and have demanding deadlines.

Assigned Units: Division budget and financial management (Central Budgeting-primary focus) Business Services and the UC Davis Foundation. Assigned units are subject to change based on division needs and staffing.



JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of the of the division Chief Operating Officer and indirect supervision of the Senior Financial Analyst and Unit Business Manager, this position performs critical budgeting, financial analysis and reporting functions for the Development and Alumni Relations (DEVAR) Division. Also has fiscal officer and human resources responsibility for assigned business units within the Division.

Develops complex analyses to support long range planning and support division and unit decision making. Prepares summary and detailed reports, analyses, and reconciliations on regular and ad hoc basis. Develops short and long term forecasts and projections. Provides budget and performance analysis for the division and assigned business units. Manages fiscal operations for assigned business units.

Serves as the primary liaison between assigned business units and Campus Human Resources and the Shared Services Center, serving as a central resource for managers and their employees regarding personnel matters, including, but not limited to: payroll, benefits, compensation and recruitment.

$23.66/hr. - $47.51/hr. This position has a budgeted pay range of $23.66/hr. - $30.65/hr. pay based on experience

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience in a fast paced dynamic environment, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Financial management experience allocating resources, preparing budgets and projections, analyzing financial data, reporting results.
Experience researching, collecting, and interpreting data and presenting analyses and recommendations orally and in writing.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate instructions, procedures and processes.
Strong Excel skills. Proficiency in desktop software and applications such as MS Office.
Experience with principles and practices of human resource management in a higher educational setting.
Analytical, critical thinking and investigative skills to research, interpret, understand and apply knowledge of compensation, employment, benefits, disability laws, UC regulations and/or internal policy and procedures to resolve inquiries and requests.
Excellent customer service skills and support, responding in a thorough and timely manner.
Skills to maintain confidentiality in personnel matters.
Experience working with complex financial and human resource enterprise systems. Skills to learn new systems as required.
Skills to work independently and as a member of team, individuals and to respond positively and proactively to customer service needs and issues.
Preferred:

Knowledge of and ability to understand, interpret and apply federal and state regulations, university and campus policies and procedures.
Oral and written communication skills sufficient to relay complex financial information in simple, concise terms, often to non-financial internal audiences.
Experience or familiarity with Kuali Financial System (KFS), PPS, and DaFIS Decision Support.
