Position Highlights The University of Arizona Cancer Center in partnership with The University of Arizona Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health in Tucson, Arizona is seeking a nationally recognized and dynamic leader to serve as the Associate Director of Population Sciences at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. The successful candidate will hold the Maynard Chair in Prevention Research and will be expected to build and advance our nationally recognized efforts in Population Sciences as part of the senior leadership team of the Cancer Center.

Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have an opportunity to interact and collaborate with the other UA Health Sciences colleges on a shared campus that includes Public Health, Pharmacy, Medicine, and Nursing as well as the CCSG-designated Cancer Center.

We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in catchment-related cancers including breast, prostate, gastric, lung, colorectal, liver, kidney as well as head and neck cancer. We seek candidates with a sustained track record of highly impactful research as evidenced by a strong record of cancer-focused funding and publications in the broad area of Population Sciences. Preference is for an individual with prior experience and an active role in an NCI designated cancer center.

As a member of the senior leadership team and the Cancer Prevention and Control Program, the Associate Director of Population Sciences will collaborate with epidemiologists, biostatisticians, geneticists, biologists, behavioral scientists and clinicians at the University of Arizona Cancer Center and in the College of Public Health as well as numerous public health partners and collaborators throughout the state of Arizona to advance Population Sciences at the Cancer Center and College of Public Health. Importantly, the Associate Director of Population Sciences will build on the health disparities efforts and social determinants of health across the state with an emphasis on our catchment populations that include Hispanic/Latinos, Native Americans, rural residents and older adults.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in epidemiology, health policy, health promotion sciences, exposure science or closely related field.
Recent (within the last 2 years) academic employment at the Associate Professor or Professor ranking .
History of funding and publication in cancer prevention and control relevant research.
Evidence of current (or competitively scored) grant funding through NCI in cancer prevention and control related research.
Instructional experience at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications *Prior leadership role in NCI-designated cancer center. *Prior experience with large epidemiological datasets and/or cohort development. *Prior experience with diverse populations and/or health disparities in cancer.
