Job Description


Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the development, control, monitoring, backup and control of databases in an Enterprise wide environment. In addition, this position is respnsible for auditing of the database systems and ensuring software is patched and up to date. The systematic planning for capacity and system growth as well as updates, migrations and updates is required.  Duties will include engineering, planning, software installation and customer communication.

Job Purpose

Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the development, quality control, and auditing of databases in specific software environments to ensure accuracy and appropriate use of data.

Job Duties
  • Administers and maintains Oracle, MS SQL and/or MySQL databases.
  • Migrates data from from other sources to Oracle database.
  • Upgrades database environments as required.
  • Administers application software and carries out database upgrades.
  • Responsible for regularly scheduled patching.
  • Responds to action requests and system emails.
  • Consults with and advises users of database, and works with them to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage.
  • Works with management personnel to develop database strategies to support the organization's needs.
  • May lead the work of lower level database administrators.
  • Works with MS SQL and MySQL in addition to Oracle RDBMS.
  • Assists team in design, planning and implementation of new technologies.
  • Works closely with outside resources as well as vendors as needed.
Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct MS SQL and/or Oracle experience.
  • Direct experience with database management and operations as well as upgrades and migrations in an enterprise environment.
