Job Description


The Department of Neurology's Blue Bird Circle Laboratory at the Baylor College of Medicine seeks an experienced electrophysiologist. 


Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related discipline and be skilled in using the mouse model to study childhood absence epilepsy.

Job Duties
  • Designs and conducts research experiments in order to understand how a single gene mutation in a voltage gated calcium channel produces spike-wave discharges in a mouse model of childhood absence epilepsy.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data gathered in mouse experiments.
  • Engineer mouse mutations
  • Perform the patch clamp electrophysiology to assess ion-channel function
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related discipline.
  • Postdoctoral training
  • Previous experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology.
  • Highly self-motivated with outstanding experimental skills.
  • Able to think independently.
