Job Description

COMPUTATIONAL POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW

Job Description

The Department of Dermatology at Columbia University is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral research scientist with computational and bioinformatics expertise to join our group. The candidate will be responsible for performing rigorous bioinformatic analysis on multi-dimensional datasets from well-defined cohorts of patients and mouse models with skin and hair disorders. The candidate will be responsible handling bioinformatic analyses for research teams, focused primarily on single-cell and bulk RNAseq data, integration with whole exome and genomic sequencing data, and single-cell TCR sequencing data and antigen/epitope prediction. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop and apply novel platforms in collaboration with systems biologists at Columbia University, and design new informatics projects using existing and public datasets. The candidate will also conduct all required computational analysis for the group, as well as provide consultation to researchers on the proper design and interpretation of bioinformatic studies. The candidate must be comfortable interacting with diverse basic science and translational researchers, and communicating with non-specialists on a regular basis.

Candidates with prior experience in bioinformatics (transcriptomics and genomics), systems biology, machine learning, or RNAseq data structure/analysis will be considered highly competitive. Candidates at minimum should have experience with standard bioinformatic analysis (differential expression, basic classification, genomics, data visualization, etc), statistics, and/or programming experience (R, perl, java, python, etc).

Prospective applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and/or experience in bioinformatics.
