The Health Education Coordinator will collaborate with housing managers, church representatives, school nurses or administrators, food pantry leaders to coordinate and implement asthma and other community education that is available to them free of charge through the WE CARE Clinic on SIUE’s East St. Louis campus. The selected candidate will then provide health coaching for community groups and individual clients about chronic illnesses such as asthma services available at the clinic. This grant-funded position educates the public about the Asthma Trigger Assessment Program (ATAP) which is in place to educate parents, families, children and other individuals who might encounter people with asthma. Additionally, the Coordinator will meet with all clients identified by WE CARE FNP for potential home assessments, health education, smoking cessation, or other needs as identified and then facilitate health education, perform home visits for asthma triggers, conduct smoking cessation classes and individual sessions with the identified clients. Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the program.

Due to the professional responsibilities of this position, occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
