Job Description


Oversees and acts as the administrator for student financial services software applications, including performing quality checks to maintain compliance with federal student aid rules and regulations

Essential Job Functions

Oversees the daily activities of the financial aid systems, provides high level technical and analytical support for all phases of the financial aid software cycle
Develops and maintains various reports and electronic mailing lists to meet department needs
Supports department workflow by providing technical assistance, reviewing user needs on requests for system enhancements and develops proposed solutions, project plans, and timelines as necessary to enable a high level of service to students and the university community
Supports the student financial aid process including needs analysis, packaging, tracking and budgeting
Updates financial aid tables and performs annual maintenance of SQL-based rules to maintain compliance with federal regulations and institutional practices
Analyzes data collected by student financial services to assist university leadership in decision-making and to contribute to university research
Troubleshoots student database system issues and, in conjunction with the information technology department, schedules, creates, tests, and executes upgrades to the system
Creates formulas and processes for monitoring the university's student financial aid systems and builds and monitors the system rules and operations
Prepares the student financial services software systems for the start of each financial aid year and for special projects
Researches new regulatory requirements and identifies methods for the university to meet compliance through the current system
Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor's degree
Moderate amount of experience working in financial aid operations or in other related work

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or a related field of study
Experience working as a financial aid officer
Experience working with federal regulations, packaging, tracking and budgeting
Working knowledge of Banner Financial Aid and SQL
