Job Description
1. Strength and Conditioning Program Administration. Design and implement a comprehensive Strength & Conditioning program for Winona Area Schools that meets the needs of the university /Winona Area Schools community, which includes budget, facilities, instructional programs, program design, program implementation and some special events. Direct and Administer all aspects of daily operations and programming. Develop, Coordinate, and Implement the overall design of the Fitness and Wellness/Strength & Conditioning programs including hiring, scheduling, and placement of student workers; fitness programming, fitness testing and assessment, wellness programming, strength & conditioning programming etc.; develop, interpret and apply policies and procedures as they relate to the use of the facilities; address basic nutrition with program participants; create personalized fitness programs for participants; create fitness incentive programs for participants; assist in aspects of daily operations and programming for Wellness/Fitness and Strength & Conditioning at Winona State University.

2. Personnel Management. Hire and supervise personnel. Provide training to graduate assistants, fitness assessment personnel, practicum students, interns and other miscellaneous fitness and wellness program staff. Develop training manuals and orientation programs for staff. Develop and instruct educational classes, workshops and clinics on fitness and wellness

3. Program Management. Assist the Director in managing a comprehensive fitness and wellness program. Evaluate programs and participation statistics through short term statistical analysis of patrons’ usage and long-term strategic planning and analysis to ensure alignment with the university’s strategic planning and outcomes. Assist with fiscal and physical resource management, the development and administration of the facility budget, purchase and inventory of equipment and develop and implement a depreciation schedule for all facility items. Monitor and maintain the website. Market all fitness and wellness programs.

4. Community Outreach. Provide outreach to outside agencies, build positive community relationships (i.e.: Winona School District 861, Cotter High School, local organizations) and administer specific programming needs.

5. Sports Club Oversight. Provide direct oversite of recreational sports, including Sports Club and Counsel club teams. Act as the liaison to Student Senate for sports clubs.

6. Campus Collaboration. Collaborate internally with Health Services, Counseling Services, Director of the IWC, Intramurals, Athletics, PER, HERS, Student Organizations, and Student Life and Development in efforts to offer improved and specialized programming.

7. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of WSU. Including but not limited to participating on committees and work groups, staying current on trends in fitness, wellness and strength & conditioning and participating in professional development opportunities.

Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Human Performance, or related field
• One (1) year of experience in collegiate and/or high school level group fitness and wellness programming, strength & conditioning, personal training and conducting fitness assessments OR
Two (2) years graduate assistantship experience in a collegiate and/or high school level strength and conditioning/fitness-related setting
• National Strength and Conditionings ‘Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist’ OR
USA Weightlifting Club Coach Certification

• Master’s Degree
• Program management experience in the aspects of development, design, education, and implementation.
• Experience creating and maintaining positive relationships with diverse constituents, including students, colleagues, parents, the community, and other external partners.
• Experience utilizing computers to conduct business (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, databases, and web application software)
• Knowledge of the importance of fitness and wellness activity in daily university life
• Demonstrated ability to direct work and lead functional teams
• Knowledge of basic nutrition
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Other Requirements
Working Conditions
• Due to the nature of the programs offered, extended and irregular hours will be required (i.e. mornings, evenings, and weekends in addition to the traditional 8 am-5 pm)
• Occasional overnight travel
• Must be able to travel independently

Physical Effort
• Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Will need to lift, carry, install, and repair a variety of equipment
