Kellogg Insight, the faculty thought leadership publication at the Kellogg School of Management, is looking for a multi-media editor to help showcase our faculty's research and ideas in print articles, podcasts, video, graphics, and other media. The ideal candidate will have a journalism background with a deep understanding of both print/web writing and editing, and podcast writing and editing. Experience with video production and other media is a plus, as is experience communicating complicated ideas in innovative ways. About the Position:

We are seeking a multimedia editor for Kellogg Insight, an online magazine that explores and promotes the thought leadership generated by faculty and affiliates of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. This candidate will be part of a small team charged with shaping our magazine’s content and expanding our audience.

This position is responsible for producing articles, podcasts, and other multimedia pieces that communicate faculty knowledge to a broad but sophisticated business audience. The ideal candidate is a sharp developmental editor who is adept at storytelling in different formats, including written, audio, and visual. This candidate should have a demonstrated ability to communicate complex information in an engaging way. Multimedia storytelling experience and an editing background in print or online is a must. This role works closely with the Editor in Chief, Senior Editor, Marketing Manager, and other staff content producers. Limited evening and weekend hours as needed.

Specific Responsibilities:

Provide writing and editorial services for Kellogg Insight
Write and edit articles and multimedia scripts
Manage freelance writers and producers
Produce multimedia storytelling content (e.g., videos, podcasts) for Insight’s website and social media channels
Coordinate with faculty on fact-checking
Find and procure additional content for Kellogg Insight
Build and foster relationships with Kellogg School faculty
Solicit and curate content from faculty
Synthesize faculty expertise with emerging business trends
Minimum Qualifications:

BS or MS in Journalism, Communications, Social Science or a related field required
At least 5 years’ experience communicating complex information to a broad audience
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

Ability to evaluate academic research for rigor and popular appeal
Versatile and engaging writer and multimedia producer, able to learn and master multiple forms and styles, including podcasts, video, and infographics.
Sharp developmental editor
Experience working with online publications, including multimedia elements
Maintain awareness of industry and platform best practices, along with emerging trends and opportunities
Strong project management skills
Passion for both high-level strategy and hands-on writing, producing, and editing
Thrives under deadline and adjusts to shifting priorities with ease
Skilled at developing relationships at all levels
Imaginative self-starter
Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of work experience in higher education
Familiarity with social scientific research processes.
Business reporters preferred
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

Video production and editing
Experience with visual journalism (ie: data visualization, infographics, etc.)
