Job Description

A postdoctoral fellowship position is immediately available in the Maitra Laboratory at Sheikh Ahmed Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. The project involves studying the functional role of a novel epigenetic regulator in pancreatic cancer using in vitro and in vivo models. We especially welcome postdoctoral fellowship applicants who are recent graduates and are interested in a mentored path to independence.
The Maitra lab is comprised of postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, research scientists and technical staff who work in a vibrant, collegial and collaborative environment. The focus of our laboratory is geared towards functional genomics research in pancreatic cancer, using a variety of orthogonal approaches. All trainees are provided with consistent mentorship and access to resources for success, as well as opportunities to present their work at national meetings and attend educational workshops. In addition, collaboration and contribution on additional projects in the lab are encouraged, based on skill sets. Support for next generation sequencing, single cell genomics, and bioinformatics pipelines is an integral part of this fellowship.
Essential qualifications for this position include a PhD in cancer biology or related discipline and a demonstrated ability to communicate research through publications and presentations. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with genetically engineered animal models and/or graduate training in pancreatic cancer biology. Applicants who have been successful in obtaining intra- or extramural funding during their graduate school will be preferred.
