Job Summary
The Exhibits and Education Assistant will collaborate with the Exhibits and Education team at the Indiana University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (IUMAA) to provide administrative and creative support to assist with the creative and practical aspects of exhibits and education work. This would include assisting with graphic design, photo editing, exhibit installation, community focused programs, tour development and delivery, and the creation of gallery guides and other exhibit support materials. This job may also require exhibits documentation, painting walls, and educational material creation and support.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year of museum experience including exhibit or graphic design, outreach, or museum education experience.

Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills. Public speaking skills. Outstanding problem-solving skills. Exceptional organizational skills. Ability to work well with a wide range of people. Operates extremely well as a team player but also works well independently. Experience with program and event planning, tour development and execution, and curriculum development. Ability to multi-task and strong research abilities. Experience with project management. Ability to work with varied publics and diverse audiences. Capacity to learn unfamiliar material quickly.

Preferred Qualifications
Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to be insured by Indiana University Risk Management. Degree in museum studies, anthropology, folklore, history, education, or other allied field. Experience in office settings or customer service settings working in high profile, high impact, and fast-paced environments. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.

Working Conditions / Demands
Must have the mobility to travel to various offices on campus and around a large building. Bending at waist, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, and walking for exhibition tasks and working off-site programs. Ability to lift and carry objects and boxes and move from place to place on a regular basis. Weight of objects and packed items may be up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in an environment in which exposure to materials containing dust and mold is a possibility. Concentrated work at the computer is also required for various reading and editing duties, giving attention to accuracy and detail.
