Job Description

The successful candidate will analyze samples for ongoing clinical studies. Specifically, the candidate will develop drug assays using HPLC (UV or MS detector) and measure drug concentrations in blood samples. Also, the candidate will conduct various in vitro drug metabolism studies that involves handling of (drug-metabolizing) enzymes and drug assays. The candidate will be expected to implement experiments, analyze data, and report results. Additional duties include ordering chemicals and supplies, managing laboratory equipment, and assisting lab staff with experiments. The candidate will be expected to train students in the lab on HPLC and basic lab techniques and to maintain records for laboratory safety training.


Bachelor’s Degree in analytical chemistry or closely related field
One year of experience in a laboratory setting in the areas of biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacology, or closely related area
Excellent record keeping skills
Good communications skills with ability to follow oral and written instructions
Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multi task, work under pressure, handle interruptions and meet deadlines
Ability to identify and determine problems, analyze information and implement solutions
Capable of taking initiative and assuming responsibility
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel


Master’s Degree in analytical chemistry
Experience with HPLC
Experience in working with mass spectrometry for quantification of small molecules
