Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Fiscal Office is seeking a full-time Senior Financial Analyst to serve as a key team member in the Financial Administration Team. The department of medicine’s financial portfolio is one of the largest and most diverse in the country. The Senior Financial Analyst assists with all aspects of financial reporting, procurement, portfolio management, coordinates and provides financial guidance, reconciliation, and ongoing procedural training. Additionally, the position monitors solvency and resource maximization. We are seeking an individual who is flexible, willing to learn, and will appreciate a fast paced dynamic working environment.

Job Duties

  • Provide financial and operational analysis and guidance to assist them in operating more efficiently and effectively.
  • Responsible for creating annual budgets and financial forecasts with functional Executive Leadership.
  • Build and manage financial/analytical reporting models including budget and forecast updates.
  • Prepare and present monthly budget and forecast to actual reporting and variance analyses to senior leaders in the organization.
  • Understand, develop and monitor business KPIs to report on business performance and trends.
  • Lead unit economics analysis to provide visibility to variable and fixed costs of products.
  • Participate in ad-hoc financial analysis and strategic projects.
  • Support more junior resources with ad-hoc projects and process improvements.
  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc reporting as new business opportunities and challenges warrant.
  • Partner closely with our Finance Director & accounting teams as well as cross-functional teams to leverage connectivity.
  • Research and gather data from a variety of systems/sources.
  • Support and continuously improve the financial planning and budget process.
  • Perform cost analyses, prepare budget reports and evaluate current financial trends.
  • Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative, and constantly changing environment.
  • Provide training and guidance on basic accounting principles, financial tools and variance reports to section administrators for better business management.
  • Any additional tasks assigned by department leadership related to financial activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Experience Required: Four years of relevant experience.
