About the role:

We are looking for an innovative scientist with a comprehensive understanding of the modulation of T Cell and Dendritic Cell function in cancer, autoimmune, and/or other disease models. Familiarity with in vivo and in vitro models of innate and adaptive immune responses, flow cytometric characterization and separation of various immune cell populations, and biomarkers or imaging modalities relevant to immunological endpoints is essential. Reporting to the Lead Staff Scientist, you will develop and conduct functional assays and utilize models to validate the biological properties and therapeutic potential of Immunotherapy treatments. As a part of our Advanced Technology Team, you will be exposed to many different technologies in areas ranging from therapeutics and diagnostics to synthetic biology and materials science, with the goal to identify new product solutions and the unique opportunity to follow your passion either at the Institute or as a future co-founder of a Wyss start-up.

What you'll do:

You will plan, conduct and interpret studies with various animal and cell culture models that utilize functional assays to validate the biological properties and therapeutic potential of Immunotherapy treatments
Collaborate with material scientists to develop material-based immunotherapies
Participate in envisioning and writing research proposals and reports to funding agencies, providing critical data, figures, or information for grant and patent submissions
Write and collaborate with faculty and other researchers on manuscripts, abstracts, and other publications of research findings
Identify new external collaboration opportunities with the business development team
Manage and train others on research methodology
Present research results at Wyss internal and external meetings
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others

What you'll need:

Advanced degree in Immunology, Immunotherapy, Cell Biology, or another related field.
A minimum of 6 years of experience with in vivo and in vitro promotion, inhibition, and detection of immune cells, including dendritic cells, cytotoxic T cells, and antigen presentation and co- stimulation or related areas; a PhD may count towards years of experience.

Desirable skills:

Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated broad theoretical and practical knowledge in at least one of the following fields: Immunology, Cancer Biology, Infectious Disease, or Autoimmunity.
Product development-oriented experience, in either an industry or academic setting preferred.
Demonstrated success in leading and working in cross-functional teams. Excellent documentation, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable in a fast-paced translational environment and able to adjust scientific approach based upon changing priorities.
The ability to seek out collaborations, and manage and mentor others.

Offer contingent on successful completion of pre-placement medical evaluation.
