Responsibilities
This position is a paid, part-time, remote internship for Spring 2021 at Saint Mary's College of California. This position will support the Open Textbook Grant, which will provide Saint Mary's College faculty the opportunity to review or adopt an open textbook for their courses. The intern will report to the Systems and Digital Initiatives Librarian.

This is an opportunity for an MLIS student interested in academic librarianship, equity, and open educational resources to get hands-on work with a new faculty outreach initiative and mentoring from academic librarians.

Responsibilities

• Aid Saint Mary's College faculty and library staff in conducting research related to Open Educational Resources, such as finding relevant open textbooks, contacting rightsholders, and compiling research on the benefits of open educational resources
• Maintain resources collected through research using Google Docs and other software
• Schedule trainings and meetings with faculty cohort
• Design and analyze surveys for program evaluation
• Maintain faculty scholarship relevant to the grant and update institutional repository
• Weekly check-ins with supervisor

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Basic knowledge of library practices and principles
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse community
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong research skills
• Willingness to learn new software
• Ability to work independently
• Current enrollment in an MLIS program

Experience and Qualifications

Desired

• Interest or experience in Open Access (OA) and Open Educational Resources (OERs)
