Position Highlights The Desert Legume Program (DELEP), through the School of Plant Sciences, is looking for an experienced candidate to work at the DELEP fields located at the Campus Agricultural Center in Tucson. Desert Legume Program:

Duties & Responsibilities
Plants new vegetation in the program's garden taking special note of frost hardiness and sun tolerance, as requested by supervisor.
Collects, compiles and analyzes data for experiments; writes evaluation of findings.
Weeds, prunes and irrigates plants; performs the general cleanup of the fields and performs weed and pest control measures.
Maintains drip irrigation system and assists with any new installation as requested by supervisor.
Harvests and processes seed for deposit in a germplasm storage facility.
Assists with relocation of established trees and shrubs.
Driving UA vehicles to transfer necessary equipment utilized to water, plant, and dig; drives to storage facility at a different location where seeds are maintained.
Additional duties may be assigned.

Extensive knowledge working with a wide range of native and non-native woody Fabaceae species in horticultural settings including pruning, irrigation requirements, pest/disease considerations, weed control, and other maintenance issues.
Detailed knowledge of the phenology of these plants with experience in the proper time to collect ripe seeds.
Knowledge and experience with installation, operation, and maintenance of drip irrigation systems.
