Position Information
BASIC FUNCTION:

Supports the Dean in managing the overall operations, personnel and image of the School of Business and implementing strategic initiatives.

SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Director of the Center for Accounting Education (CAE) works under the general supervision of the Office of the Dean and in collaboration with Chairperson of the Department of Accounting in the School of Business to design, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate programs that enhance the accounting education provided at the Howard University School of Business’ Department of Accounting. Further, the purpose of the Center for Accounting Education is to offer programs that enhance the knowledge of college students and young professionals about the opportunities in the accounting profession and assist the Accounting Department in interacting with accounting professionals including the major accounting firms as well as the minority accounting firms and those in the corporate community. Also provide nationally recognized programs to assist African- Americans entering the accounting profession or who are already in the accounting profession.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Facilitate the Center for Accounting Education's programs and activities.
Develop unique and special programs to enhance the knowledge ofHoward University's accounting students.
Coordinate programs and activities with the Department of Accountingso that they are enhanced and supportive.
Assemble a cadre of accounting professionals to provide advice andcounsel the accounting faculty.
Write or assist in writing grants for program funding proposals.•Build and strengthen relationships with key collaborative partners.
Recruit, train, and maintain a strong and diverse pool of volunteers tosupport the center's activities.
Document program planning, policies, procedures, practices, andlogistics to ensure quality and sustainability.
Structure and monitor outcome measures and evaluation procedures for the Center’s programs.
Prepare and monitor the Center’s budget
Lead the Center’s fundraising activities.
Supervise the Center's staff and consultants.
Teach accounting courses as assigned.
Contribute to the general research portfolio of the Department of Accounting through publication in academic and popular outlets.
Perform additional duties designated by the Department Chair or the Office of the Dean to achieve success of programs and meet the mission of the Center for Accounting Education.

Proven experience in developing unique programs and activities in thepractice of accounting.
Strong facilitation and group leadership skills.
Experience with working with accounting firms, government officials,corporate community, universities etc.
Experience working in aleadership capacity with diverse groups.
The ability to conceive, develop, and complete tasks withoutsupervision.•Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills.•Strong supervisory, budget development and monitoring skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks.
