Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Theatre and Dance invites applicants for the position of department chair (#130005). Applicants must be eligible to meet the criteria for the rank of either associate professor or professor. Expedited tenure upon appointment possible. Start date for the position is August 1, 2021.

The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarship/creative activity and/or service to the profession, dedication to quality instruction and effective mentorship, a commitment to broad student success initiatives, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to inspire faculty, staff, and students across the dance and theatre disciplines. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the skills to manage the details of operations while focusing on long-range plans to sustain the growth and excellence associated with the department. Teaching responsibilities will be in the theatre program and will be determined by the candidate's academic background and skills.

MTSU serves as host to the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts, a summer residency program, and the annual Tennessee Thespian Conference. MTSU is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre and is seeking accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Dance. Required Education
Terminal degree in Theatre or closely related field by appointment date

Other Desirables
Candidates who possess prior administrative experience, experience with fundraising, and NAST or NASD standards and processes will receive special consideration
