Job Description

Job Description
The Meruelo Family Center for Career Development (CCD) seeks a creative and dynamic professional to create and manage the CCD’s data analysis and reporting functions. The Strategic Analyst gathers and interprets data and creates interactive reports to help CCD staff and campus partners develop actionable steps that will improve processes and optimize results that directly align with creation and execution of the overall CCD operational and strategic plan.

Based on the nature of this position, the CCD will consider candidates with remote work arrangements.

As one of 30+ staff in Notre Dame’s centralized career center, The Analyst creates dozens of dashboards using Tableau to analyze data and draws conclusions which support all functions of the CCD. Key areas of data collection and analysis include career pathways, employer engagement in recruiting and hiring, and student engagement in events and services.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Your work is critical to not only the success of the CCD — decisions drawn from your insights will impact the broader University community. Your work will help our students secure internships and jobs. In this role, you will:

collaborate with CCD staff and campus partners to refine key metrics and assess progress towards our goals
develop and refine data collection tools, primarily using Qualtrics
create tailored worksheets, dashboards, and stories using Tableau
analyze data to identify gaps and trends
share findings in writing and verbally with CCD staff, University leaders, and other key stakeholders
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
A successful Strategic Analyst is an effective communicator (both verbally and in writing) who can work independently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Candidates from all academic disciplines and backgrounds are invited to apply.

We seek a professional with critical thinking skills who has demonstrated technical proficiency with data analysis. A successful analyst can be a recent college graduate with a creative mind and experience using Tableau for project work or a professional who is looking for more meaning in their work. We are seeking a mission-driven, motivated professional who wants to make a difference.

Technical proficiency is essential. Candidates with experience using Tableau are preferred; however, candidates with demonstrated competency using similar data analysis software (e.g. Microsoft Power BI) and demonstrated ability to learn software quickly will be considered. Samples of past work with data analysis and visualization tools will be requested through the candidate review process.

While much of the work of the Analyst is completed independently with only broad direction, the Analyst must be a team player who can take direction, respond to feedback, and refine their work.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
We believe in the career development of our staff. This position will give you experience working with data in creative ways, and your work will be used by senior leaders of the University. Your day-to-day work has meaning and will directly influence strategic decisions of the University. Whether you want to pursue a career in data analysis, project management, or leadership, employment in this position will develop many skills which will enhance your professional portfolio and position you for other roles at Notre Dame and beyond. We will help advance your career.
