The Biomedical along with the Civil and Environmental Engineering departments support School of Engineering students as they pursue their degrees in these areas.


The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Tufts University offers students the opportunity to study biomedical engineering or biomedical sciences or minor in biomedical engineering, while they personalize their path of study. The vision of the Biomedical Engineering Department at Tufts University is to promote integrative research, education, and entrepreneurship at the forefront of biomedical science and engineering.


Additionally, the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) department focuses on applying engineering and science to help society anticipate and respond to the emerging challenges of our changing world. Civil and Environmental engineers focus on natural and built systems and work at the intersection of infrastructure, the environment, and people.


With a long history of interdisciplinary learning and research collaboration, the CEE and BME departments bring together faculty, students, alumni, staff, and guests from across the field and beyond.


The Diversity Program Administrator manages projects related to increasing the representation and inclusion of underrepresented groups in the Biomedical and Civil and Environmental Engineering departments. This individual assists with department diversity activities, working both with individual faculty members and with diversity committees. The individual aids faculty in grant writing and eventual implementation of education, outreach, and broadening participation projects that emphasize diversity and inclusion. The individual promotes interactions between students, faculty, staff, and administrators, coordinating across Tufts with student groups, identity-based centers, and other campus diversity resources. The individual identifies best practices, develops training opportunities, and aids in tracking department progress toward diversity goals.


Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through a completion of a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of related experience OR Master’s degree and 1-2 years related experience.
Prior experience with diversity and inclusion programs.
Position requires strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred.
Expertise in Biomedical or Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Expertise in the Learning Sciences.
Expertise in Diversity and Inclusion.
