Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time. : Organization 05252, Radiation Hard CMOS Technology, is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to work with a leading team of engineers and physicists to develop the next generation of neuromorphic computing hardware, sensing applications, and semiconductor devices. Additionally, the selected candidate will work with projects engaging a wide array of topics related to heterogeneous integration, and advanced microsystem architectures. On any given day, one may be called upon to: + Perform daily experimental work, which includes test measurement and electrical/optical/thermal characterization of devices + Work in semiconductor fabrication facilities and labs to create new devices and systems + Execute radiation tests using a variety of facilities + Design devices and circuits for fabrication using Cadence/layout tools and device/circuit simulators + Analyze data using commercial and in house analysis tools + Communicate results in high impact journals/publications along with associated travel to relevant conferences

Required:
+ A PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Nanoscale Engineering, or a related STEM field, conferred within the past 5 years + The ability to work in a cleanroom environment + The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance

Desired:
+ A strong desire to publish impactful work in high quality journals and make real scientific progress based on hypothesis driven experimental work + Significant experience or coursework related to nanoscale device physics and chemistry, deep learning/neural network architectures, and neuromorphic computing + Technical proficiency as proven by published work in quality peer reviewed journals + Successful research and development in memory devices and/or neuromorphic computing hardware + Hands on experience with electrical test and measurement equipment such as semiconductor parameter analyzers, optoelectronics characterization of photosensors, or solar cells + Experience with active vision sensors and spike based neuromorphic computing techniques + Experience with professional software such as Cadence, Origin/MATLAB/JMP, CAD/Layout tools + Excellent written, oral, and communication skills + Strong collaboration skills, working in a team environment

Department Description:

We are responsible for developing, integrating, characterizing, and ensuring the reliability of radiation-hardened microelectronics fabricated in the Microsystems and Engineering Sciences and Applications (MESA) facilities. Advanced device development activities are also a significant part of the team's work, focusing on end-of-the roadmap technologies such as resistive nonvolatile memories, and heterogeneous integration.

Security Clearance:
