Job Summary
Assistant Professor of Health Physics (Radiation Protection)

Primary Duties

The School of Health Sciences at Purdue University seeks applicants for an academic-year (9-month) tenure-track faculty position (Assistant Professor) in the area of radiation protection/health physics to begin in the Fall of 2021. An independent line of research with evidence of successful extramural funding is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to and expand our nationally recognized program and federally funded research portfolio through scholarly activity, teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs, advising students, and serving on departmental, college and/or university committees.


Qualifications - Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Health Physics or a related field (for example, medical physics, radiation biology, nuclear engineering, physics, etc.) by the position start date, have appropriate postdoctoral or related (industrial, military, national laboratory, etc.) experience, and show evidence of scholarship in the area of health physics (broadly defined). The successful candidate will have ample opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations within the School, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and campus-wide emphasis areas (e.g. imaging and engineering). Professional collaborative opportunities and pilot funding also exist within the NIH-supported Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (www.indianactsi.org); Discovery Park (http://www.purdue.edu/discoverypark/); the Cooperative Extension Programs of Health and Human Sciences (http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/extension/); and over 100 Centers at Purdue (http://www.purdue.edu/research/centers-institutes-cores/list.php).


The College and Purdue University - The School of Health Sciences is one of nine units in the College of Health & Human Sciences and is home to over 700 undergraduate students and approximately 50 graduate students.
