Position Description
The University of Mississippi, Department of Teacher Education is seeking to hire an instructor of secondary science and a director for a STEM consortium. The instructor/director will support STEM Advanced Placement instruction in rural high schools and teach secondary science methods courses and supervise science student teachers. This individual will be a 12-month faculty member in the University of Mississippi School of Education in the area of Science Education to support the mission of both the School of Education and the Consortium. The successful candidate for this position will have experience teaching AP science courses, ideally physics or chemistry.



This individual will be a 12-month faculty member in the University of Mississippi School of Education in the area of Science Education to support the mission of both the School of Education and the Consortium. These goals include:
• Develop and value middle and high school teachers as STEM professionals.
• Support STEM classrooms environments in Mississippi that empower students to be self directed individuals.
• Teach a minimum of three courses in the Department of Teacher Education
• Assist high school AP teachers in developing the skills necessary to facilitate the advancement of AP course in Mississippi schools.
• Amplify best STEM teaching practices in Mississippi schools
