Do you want to be part of a project aiming to transform future EU rural policy design and monitoring, to promote a sustainable future for the EU agricultural sector?
BESTMAP is an EU Horizon 2020 funded project that will design and develop a new Policy Impact Assessment Model (PIAM) framework, relying on modern socio-economic, behavioural and biophysical approaches, to capture the environmental, social and economic variability of individual farms and EU regions. The framework will be operationalised by using co-design workshops, existing geo-referenced datasets and the experience of EU institutions, national, regional and local decision-makers, expert personnel and other researchers. The approach will be demonstrated in five regional case studies, (UK, Germany, Czech Republic, Catalonia and Serbia), covering heterogeneous agricultural, socio-economic and political backgrounds. The project will synthesise case studies’ results and scale up the approach at a national, EU and global levels, disseminating the outcomes and building capacity for improved policy impact assessment modelling in EU and Member States institutions.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Assistant with a background in environment science and data analysis, to join the BESTMAP team in the University of Leeds and contribute to the collection of data, analysis and the development of biophysical models.
You should have an MSc, (or be very close to obtaining an MSC), and/or equivalent research experience in agricultural science, geography, ecology, athematics/statistics, or physics – or a related discipline with a significant component of data analysis – and be able to demonstrate a combination of enthusiasm and experience in statistical modelling.
