Open to School of Medicine Staff only
Are you committed to advancing gender and intersectional equality? Can you provide leadership to support the development and promotion of best practice in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion?
As a School of Medicine we have invested in developing a range of initiatives to help address gender and intersectional inequality. We are looking to appoint a new Chair for the School of Medicine’s Athena SWAN Steering Group to support the School of Medicine in progressing this work.
The School is is committed to the aims and principles of Athena SWAN. Athena SWAN is a progressive charter which seeks to advance gender and intersectional equality, and support trans colleagues and students in UK higher education. The School holds a Gold Award, which recognises our significant record of activity and achievement in promoting gender equality and in addressing challenges across different disciplines. You will support the School to progress its Athena SWAN action plan in preparation for future award submissions by providing leadership to the Steering Group and working with the Associate Dean EDI to promote gender and intersectional equality more broadly via student and staff initiatives
To assist the School in addressing a wide range of gender and intersectional issues and promoting an inclusive culture for staff of all genders, a varied gender representation within the group is important. We therefore encourage and welcome applications from men, or those who identify as non-binary or trans gender to support this aim. We are looking for an enthusiastic leader, with a personal commitment to driving forward equality, diversity and inclusion in the school.
This post will not attract additional remuneration or an honorarium, although it is anticipated that a workload remission of 0.1fte will be agreed as appropriate.
