Job Summary/Basic Function:
This job provides an opportunity to study neurological and autoimmune diseases including multiple sclerosis. The job entails routine laboratory procedures according to standardized protocols and reporting results to supervisors. There are also opportunities to analyze, interpret data that will drive a research project. The individual will receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments but will also have opportunities to develop independent projects and assignments. This job will be supportive of our laboratory's goals. OMRF is an independent, not-for-profit biomedical research institute adjacent to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) campus in Oklahoma City. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree typically in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry or equivalent years of professional, paid, relevant laboratory experience. Should be familiar with lab techniques. Apply developing knowledge to coordinate day-to-day work, complete a variety of detailed tasks and assignments. Basic knowledge of Internet software, order processing system, data base and Microsoft Office software. Must be detail oriented and work independently as well as a team player. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and BA/BS degree typically in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry or equivalent years of professional, paid, relevant laboratory experience. Should be familiar with lab techniques. Basic knowledge of routine technical/functional procedures. Basic computer skills to include knowledge of Internet software, order processing system, and Microsoft Office software. Must be detail oriented and work as a team player.

Work Hours: Typically Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm.

Physical Demands:
Regularly required to stand, use manual dexterity, talk or hear; Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms; occasionally sit; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or rodent dander. May work with toxic, caustic chemicals, radioactive materials, liquid nitrogen, human tissue or blood. Potential risk of electrical shock. Occasional exposure to cold 4C, and/or extreme cold -80C from freezers. Noise level is usually moderate.
