South Dakota State University Student Health Clinic and Counseling Services is offering an exciting career opportunity as a Nurse Practitioner. We are looking for a creative and innovative professional to join us in the Student Health Clinic and Counseling Services. This is a 9 month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. This position is supervised by the Associate Director.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Provides primary health care to college students and their dependents (including obtaining histories, performing physical exams, diagnosing, and treating a variety of conditions); provides health counseling and education to students and staff; collaborates with other support programs on campus to retain students. Ability to obtain a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration required to prescribe controlled medications will be needed after applicant is hired.

• Master’s Degree in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner specialty completed by first day of employment (must have Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Nursing prior);
• National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner;
• Both Registered Nurse and Certified Register Nurse Practitioner licensure in South Dakota;
• Medical malpractice insurance with a minimum of $1,000,000 per incident and $3,000,000 aggregate;
• Effective written communication skills;
• Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
• Able to obtain both a current South Dakota Controlled Substance Registration and a Federal Controlled Substance Registration, which is renewed every 3 years.

• Experience in ambulatory care, clinic setting as a team member;
• Strong knowledge base in working with diverse patient populations while maintaining cultural sensitivity;
• Competent in providing care to young adults and non-traditional students.
