Job Description

FINANCE ASSOCIATE, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), to provide support to grants managers and financial operations, including travel reimbursement support, procard reconciliation, invoice submissions and reimbursement submissions, for J-PAL Global. Specific responsibilities include assisting with financial aspects of grant management such as invoice submission, deliverables, no cost extension paperwork, establishing awards, and sometimes closing subawards; processing honorariums and board payments; responding to and resolving general reimbursement and purchasing inquiries; processing invoices and reimbursements in a timely manner; processing procurement requisitions; updating manuals and procedures; checking and verifying records; preparing invoices and vouchers; reconciling accounting statements and reporting discrepancies; checking purchases against statements and maintaining appropriate files; and reconciling credit card charges for J-PAL Global, financial review and control review, and making payments through purchase orders.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent; at least two years’ experience in accounting or finance; ability to utilize verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate a message particular to an audience and to meet relevant goals using clear, concise, and appropriate language; ability to handle interruptions throughout the day in order to manage requests; ability to handle several different projects/tasks at one time, successfully complete assigned tasks, and meet deadlines; self-motivation and willingness to learn; ability to self-manage workflow while maintaining high quality output and accuracy with details; comfort learning computer applications, including Salesforce; self-motivation; desire to continuously improve processes and work in teams; comfort with and adept at working in a diverse and multicultural work environment with colleagues, partners, and policymakers from around the world.
