Per course adjunct faculty for the Single Subject Teaching Credential program's course, SSTE 276-01/SSTE 176-01.

SSTE 276-01/176-01 - Health Education

September 2, 2021 - September 30, 2021, Thursday, 4:15pm - 7:15pm

The Health courses examine areas that affect the physical, emotional, and academic health of K-12 children. Emphasis is placed on the responsibilities of teachers and the school community to promote child health and physical well-being, and on strategies that contribute to the healthful behavior of children.

Requirements to teach this course:

At least four years experience teaching in a Title I secondary public school with majority students of color within the past 10 years. Subject area of expertise/credential should be specified in the resumé.

Experience teaching and utilizing the latest research-based strategies in critical pedagogy, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and/or funds of knowledge/community cultural wealth

Effectively uses multiple pedagogical strategies including: community building activities; Socratic Seminars; heterogeneous groupwork

Does not rely only on lecture and discussion-based teaching techniques in 50% of teaching

Masters degree, preferably in Education or the Subject Matter Discipline

Demonstrated expertise in working with English language learners/emergent bilingual students (including experience with CELDT, English language development strategies, knowledge of law that impacts supports of English language learners, )
