About the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Assistant II with lab experience in molecular biology and/or biochemistry to join our Diagnostics Accelerator team. Reporting to the Senior Staff Scientist, you will help to develop new molecular diagnostics and will be involved in several projects to help create new technologies for diagnostics as well as the application of these technologies to several disease areas (infectious diseases, neurology, and others).


Job-Specific Responsibilities

What you'll do:

Help to develop expertise in new and established techniques for sensitive detection of protein and nucleic acid biomarkers from human biofluids. These will include protein quantification using Single Molecule Arrays (Simoa) technology, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for the analysis of circulating nucleic acids, and automation using liquid handling instruments.
With oversight by the senior scientist, will plan and execute scientific experiments. Order supplies and perform support and lab maintenance activities.
Under the supervision of senior staff, present data and conclusions at meetings within the Wyss Institute.

Basic Qualifications

What you'll need:

College background in a biological science or related field is required.
At least on year of lab research experience in molecular biology or biochemistry (Experience with nucleic acid analysis and/or protein biochemistry).

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Desirable Skills:

Bachelor's degree in biological science or related field is strongly preferred
Experience with nucleic analysis and/or protein biochemistry preferred
Experience with one or more of the following is advantageous but not required:
ELISA
Next generation sequencing (NGS) library construction
Programming of liquid handling robots
Programming experience (Python or R) and expertise in computational analysis of large biological datasets
