Job Description

The Therapeutic Discovery Center is seeking a dynamic Project Manager for Translational Research Programs with scientific background, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for applying science toward the therapies of tomorrow. The Project Manager will report to the Senior Director, Translational Research and will serve as a key member of the Therapeutic Discovery Center.

The Therapeutic Discovery Center works across a number of disease areas and therapeutic modalities via translational research programs such as the Quadrangle Fund for Advancing and Seeding Translational Research (Q-FASTR) program, and the Blavatnik Therapeutics Challenge Awards (BTCA). As a member of the Translational Discovery Center project management team, the Project Manager will work with successful applicants to support execution of grants through a variety of in house and out sourced capabilities, with the goal of finding suitable partners to move the project towards development.

The Project Manager will also closely collaborate with affiliated institutions to enable the achievement of research deliverables. The Project Manager will be expected to establish business processes and operational best practices while leading teams to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The Project Manager will exhibit a high degree of integrity, demonstrating professionalism at all times and handling confidential information appropriately.

Primary duties & Responsibilities:
• Lead operational management of designated projects, including
o Establish scientific and operational project milestones in collaboration with principal investigators
o Define deliverables and timelines at each project stage
o Monitor expenses against project budgets
o Communicate effectively with scientific researchers
• Design scopes of work and implement contract execution with contract research organizations (CROs), technical consultants, and other service providers as appropriate.
• Initiate required reporting on either grant progress or for committee review.
• Assist with activities of the steering committees, including setting up review meetings, taking minutes, etc.
• Assist with the award processes for each program.
• Assist with request for proposals (RFP) for review by the appropriate steering committees and other groups and individuals; manage RFP distribution process.

Basic Qualifications :
• Master’s degree in the life sciences or related fields required.
• 5 years of relevant experience in positions involving project management, alliance management, scientific/technical evaluation, in an industrial and/or academic setting preferred. Ph.D. research related field may count toward experience.

Additional Qualifications:
• Ph.D. degree preferred.
