Job Summary
Oversees all recording, editing, mastering and reproduction of School of Music concerts, recitals, workshops, and recording sessions for internal and external constituencies. Provides live sound reinforcement of university performances, lectures and events. Prepares invoices for audio services. Trains and supervises student employees. Maintains School of Music recording archive. Plans, designs, installs and maintains audio systems, equipment, hardware and software. Researches and recommends equipment purchases. Maintains parts and supplies inventory. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in audio engineering or music production with two years of professional experience in the following areas: recording of large and small instrumental and vocal ensembles, multi-track recording, mixing and editing OR five years of professional experience in the above areas.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in electronic music equipment installation, repair and maintenance.
Experience in professional/commercial recording, editing and mastering.
Experience supervising and training personnel in providing audio services.
Experience in video production and editing.
Familiarity with the higher education environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Proficient in Macintosh-based digital audio mixing, editing and software installation.
Proficient in live sound recording and studio recording.
Ability to read music, and familiarity with classical concert music.
Familiarity with the existing studio software: MOTU Digital Performer, DSP Quattro, Izotope, and Filemaker Pro, in order to facilitate smooth transition.
Ability to work with faculty on commercial recording projects.
